The Passage East Car Ferry sails between Passage East, Co. Waterford and Ballyhack, Co. Wexford. The crossing takes about 5 minutes and if you were to drive by road from Passage East to Ballyhack it would take approx. one hour. The service started in July 1982 with The Ferry "DUNBRODY" which had a capacity for about 15 cars. This was replaced by the "EDMUND D" in 1995 which had a capacity for 28 cars. In December 2006 our present vessel the "FRAZER TINTERN" came into service also having a capacity of 28 cars. The service runs all year round with Christmas Day and St. Stephens Day the only days there is no scheduled service. We’ve worked hard to build a reliable, efficient and trustworthy service. We save our commuter’s time and money while service up magnificent views of the opening to Waterford Harbour where you can see the historic buildings such as Hook Lighthouse and Duncannon Fort. Our service alleviates the need for people to spend unnecessary time sitting in traffic while lessoning the impact of wear and tear on their vehicles.
Being within close proximity to Waterford City, Wexford Town, Rosslare, Dunmore East, Tramore, Duncannon and the Hook Peninsula our service is popular with both commuters, tourist, and day-trippers. We are all of a 15 minutes’ drive to Waterford City and just minutes away from some of the biggest tourist attractions in the south-east.
